Maybe the reason for not releasing the Epstein info is that not just Trump but other Republicans (or important Democrats) are implicated and by keeping them secret Trump has a hold over the others.
Assuming there are still some people who identify as “Republican”, BOTH parties have a messaging problem. While I agree that the Democratic establishment remains out of touch with a large percentage of its voting base making it impossible to write a decisive policy agenda, Democratic voters do NOT want “Republican” lite either.
The consultant class can’t push a “cut spending” and “limit regulations” agenda to voters who can plainly see how detrimental those things have become for the average citizen and society in general.
It seems that former “Republicans” are wading back into their protect the big money donors and look at the little democratic people (similar to the “deplorables” reference) roots that produced a candidate like Trump in the first place.
The voting public has grown tired and does seem to be shouting what it wants to see from the political parties in this moment. They’re just waiting to see who is brave enough to step forward and acknowledge it, own it and get it done for the people.
I know it has been the norm to dismiss the ideas and voices of people like Bernie, AOC and Mamdani because big money donors from both parties are terrified of contributing to a more just distribution of wealth in this country for the sake of human decency, but that IS the change voters are hoping to see.
Unfortunately, the establishment/ political consultant class refuses to listen (They are hired by the same big money donors, after all)
It is absurd to try to justify a budget that militarizes the federal government against the will of its own people, brutalizes innocent people who came here to contribute to our economy, hands our tax dollars to billionaires who already have too much and destroys the government agencies that protect ordinary citizens from these predators.
Until the political consultant class will bravely admit they have helped to create it, then don’t expect anything to change for either party. You reap what you sow.
If you don’t care that people desperately want universal healthcare, paid education, a reduced defense budget and a higher corporate/wealth tax, then stop asking why voters seem content to let the entire system burn to the ground. Stop defending a few hundred billionaires and start serving the millions that make it all possible.
This is how the "Flood The Zone" strategy works. The more red meat you toss into the water the more targets the sharks have to go after. As a result, there is no one thing that a large enough group can truly coalesce around and so they all scatter to the next chum spots. That changed with the Epstein list fiasco, but it will be interesting to see if it lasts.
As sad as I am to have to say this but S.E. has expressed so clearly my frustration at my party. I’m a Democrat. The Democratic Party has not stepped up with a clear blueprint for how they will protect our democratic republic from the vicious attacks. I guess they are waiting for a new leader to rally behind this blueprint. Come on! Take advantage of the opportunity to become relevant again. Sitting in silence from so many members of Congress doesn’t make us believe that you are up to the task of governing. Midterms are coming soon and l suggest you all start representing your constituents and the country. Don’t cower like the Republicans to the dictator rump.
At the same time, doomerism has been shown to negate enthusiasm and effort. So, yes, while nothing is ever guaranteed regarding the political impact of Trump’s shenanigans, throwing your hands up and saying we’re screwed anyway isn’t a strategy either.
I’m cautiously optimistic. In election cycles past, voters have shown that even when they have short memories regarding particulars, they do get an overall “fatigue” and “want something different.” Hell, sometimes the short memory works in reverse, where people forget your wins (e.g., Bush Sr.).
There’s still plenty of time. In the interim, instead of discouraging hope, give constructive advice.
My prediction: Trump’s reign sputters out from the death of a thousand cuts. His support isn’t too strong among independents. Focus on luring them back rather than worrying about if MAGA will get over Epstein.
Epstein gate. Like signal gate. Paper’s may be redacted. Teen age girls like , that young lady, who killed her self. Epstein is very much dead, but a lot of young ladies lives are in a mess. Sexual predators. You name it. It is pretty bad. Wonder if MAGA con conger , Mr. Epstein. Dead I’d Dead no matter how you look at it.
I'm convinced that the only "demise" to MAGA comes from inside MAGA...and historically that isn't lasting. Example: DeSantis and his corruption in Florida, the only real reason his scandal of stealing money became a thing was due to MAGA. Will DeSantis pay a price for that scandal, my money is on no. He kissed and made up bigly with Alligator Alcatraz and other horrific things that the base loves. The Epstein scandal is another one that Dems had nothing to do with in terms of creating a rift inside MAGA. The Elon thing will also be a nothing burger in a few months. MAGA is easy to forgive and always forgets.
The glimmers of hope that I see:
- podcast bros speaking out against some of the horrific things.
- real people being negatively impacted and sharing their stories (not that I want people being negatively impacted)
I would like to see more good communicators on the pro-democracy side speaking out - go everywhere, podcasts, community events, legacy media, social media, etc. Speak plainly and leave out the policy garbage. Bummer stickers, not TLDR policy pieces.

Trump is melting down over Epstein. Keep on the pressure. Share every story, meme, and cartoon and keep up the pressure!
